The Laguna del Otún tour is an exciting one-day excursion that will take you to the heart of Los Nevados National Natural Park, departing from Pereira. Lasting approximately 12 hours, this tour stands out for its impressive high-mountain landscape and the beauty of the paramo ecosystem, where the characteristic frailejones are found. The adventure begins at 4:00 AM and culminates with a delicious country-style lunch after the hike.
During the tour, you will experience a 5 km hike that will take you to the Laguna del Otún viewpoint, located 4,132 meters above sea level. This route is ideal for adults and young people 14 years and older who are looking for a moderate challenge, but it is not recommended for people with heart or respiratory conditions or those who are pregnant. The route offers spectacular views and the opportunity to connect with nature in its purest state.

Itinerary
- 4:00 AM: Meeting near the Victoria Shopping Center (Pereira).
- 7:00 AM: Breakfast at a hostel near the park entrance.
- 8:30 AM: Induction talk at Los Nevados NNP (3,911 m a.s.l.).
- Hike: 5 km to the Laguna del Otún viewpoint (approx. 3 hours, 4,132 m a.s.l.).
- 2:00 PM: Return and lunch at a country-style restaurant.
- 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM: Return to Pereira.
Restrictions
- ♿ People with reduced mobility (the terrain has slopes and difficult access conditions).

- 👤 Recommended for ages 5 and up (children under 5 must be carried in a carrier at the adult's responsibility).
- 💊 If you have any medical condition, it is mandatory to carry your medications with you throughout the trip.
- 🐾 Can I bring my pet? No, because it is a National Natural Park, pets are prohibited to protect wildlife.
- 🚗 Can I drive my own car? We do not recommend it. The road to this area is in very poor condition, and private vehicles have gotten stuck. For your safety and that of your vehicle, we use equipped 4x4 trucks.
- ⛺ Can you camp at the lagoon? This tour is a one-day hiking experience. We do not conduct camping activities at Laguna del Otún.
- What is the difficulty level? It is a high-difficulty route for people in excellent physical condition. We will hike 10 km in high mountains (between 3,800 and 4,132 m a.s.l.), which requires very good endurance and adaptation to altitude.
- Do you have vegetarian or vegan options? Yes, we do. Please inform us when making your reservation to confirm menu availability for that day.
💳 Payment and booking policies
- Booking: Confirm your spot with a 30% deposit of the total value. Send the receipt via WhatsApp. The deposit is non-refundable in cash.
- Remaining balance (70%): To be paid on the day of the tour, before starting the activity, in cash or via verified transfer.
⚠️ Cancellation and rescheduling
- 7 or more days in advance: Reschedule at no cost. 100% of your deposit remains as a credit (valid for 6 months).
- Between 3 and 6 days before: Reschedule with a 20% penalty of the total value for logistical expenses.
- Less than 48 hours or No-Show: Last-minute cancellation, non-attendance, or tardiness implies the loss of 30% of the total value, with no right to reschedule.
- Suspension during the route: Due to risky weather, road closures, or authorities' decisions, if the activity must be suspended once started, the departure will be rescheduled. Only non-recoverable expenses will be deducted, and the balance will remain in your favor.
